She felt uneasy and couldn't quite put her finger on it.Putting it down to not sensing Ray she just assumed she was tired. "Two she pressed? "

She glanced around expecting to see someone else in the shadows.When she saw no one she glanced back to see a look being exchanged between Tom and Ray. Stepping closer she lowered her shields probing the walls of Tom's mind. He let her so far and no more she studied him intently trying to interpret his body language. She could have tried to push harder but she was already too tired.

The others stood watching the silent exchange waiting to see the outcome,he met her look calmly, curiously wary.Finally Ray broke the stalemate."Raine your friend went in to talk to this guy Stephen."

Raine felt her stomach roll but immediately clamped down on the rising panic. She turned facing Ray and he felt a chill flutter up his spine as her face went cold and blank her eyes took on a searching quality. When she spoke her voice was as distant as her demeanor.

"What friend Tom?"

But she kept her eyes on Ray gauging his reactions. She sensed his confusion, his worry,the underlying fear.

"You know whose in there Raine its Michael."

She studied Ray a moment longer sensing his relief before she turned to face Tom.

"And we're just going to leave him?" He has another ten minutes it took longer to find you and Sloan than anticipated." Then we go." "Tom we can't leave him Sloan protested call the police let them go in and bring him out." But Raine was already shaking her head."I wont leave him there."

Sloan turned to Ray,"call the police call Walter see what his boss can do.Ray shrugged apologetically."His boss isn't even aware your missing." Sighing she turned trying to find a solution as Raine and Tom verbally squared off against one another.

Tom stated calmly," he wanted you safe you would disregard his wishes in light of what he's done? "

Anger flickered across her face. "Don't give me that Tom he's one against dozens no matter what claptrap they brainwash you all with your not Supermen and you bleed red the same as a human." I wont let him be the price for my actions the cost is already to high."

Tom moved closer they were almost nose to nose. " Now whose talking nonsense?" You may not want to admit it but you know who Michael is and what he's capable of." We all hear rumors about one another you know exactly why they whisper about him as they do." If anyone has a chance of leaving there intact its him." In your present condition you'll only get in his way."

She turned her back on him looking back the way they came." How much longer? "Three minutes. Ray looked from one to the other, "I'll just go and get the car." Sloan why don't you come with me and sit down before you fall down." Tom? Sloan asked. He turned his head nodding we'll be right there." Ray took her arm supporting her as the slowly crossed to the shed.They stood there as the silence stretched broken only by the engine of the car pulling from the structure.

"Raine its time." Hunching her shoulders she whispered.

"No. "

"Don't do this,get into the car once Sloan and you are safe I'll come back for him. "

"I can't do that to him." " Raine don't make me force you."

She turned crouching,"I wont make it easy for you. "

A voice quietly came from the right of them. "Raine, why can't you for once just do what your told." She whirled, " Michael? " He stepped closer staring at her intensely," Tom why are you still here? "

Tom said pointedly," your late.." Michael shrugged," couldn't be avoided I ran into a group a little to interested in your presence here. "I'm afraid they wont be reporting back in."Tom nodded glancing at them both a second,I'm going to the car see you there."

Michael she whispered, drawing his gaze back she raised her hand then faltered letting it fall. He caught it raising it to his chest he placed it over his heart stepping closer their bodies brushed. His hand touched a strand of her hair softly rubbing it between his fingers.Holding her gaze he brought it to his nose inhaling the sweet floral scent before bringing it to his lips then taking it into his mouth as if memorizing the taste.

Raine raised her hand touching his cheek in wonder lowering her walls a fraction she merged her feeling with his startled she stepped back searching his eyes she felt stunned at the intensity of his feelings he who said feelings were for the weak. " Michael I.." Shsssh his finger grazed her mouth I don't want gratitude not from you."

She shook her head." I don't understand. He lips quirked, yes you do your just not use to seeing me in that light until now."Grabbing his hand, no you haven't revealed this much about yourself before.."Why? What's changed? " Closing the distance between then he slid his hand along her neck feeling the throb of her pulse.

"What makes you think..his arm shifted grasping around her waist lifting her against his chest his breath teased her lips its me thats changed? " He leaned in to brush his lips against hers as she reared back wrapping her hand in his hair halting him an inch from her lips." "Don't." Her nostrils flared, wary her eyes took on a even deeper shade of green, you should bathe Michael before you come to one woman from another." I can smell her all over you." Its not a itch that needs scratching and my biological clock isn't screaming at me so don't start something with your not capable of giving your full undivided attention."

His mouth quirked as he leaned toward her brushing his lips teasingly against hers."It took you long enough to care one way or another about that." Holding her gaze he merged into her emotions hesitating a moment she dropped her walls all the way completely open and vulnerable.Her tentative trust on top of almost loosing her shredded any sense of caution or programing there was something stronger driving him now.

He ignored the little voice screaming to leave and set about wringing ever bit from this moment he could.For now she was his and he was making sure it wasn't easy for her to dismiss him ever again.Later she might shut him out,she had once before even though she never known it. But god help him he didn't want to miss a moment that might not come again.

Tilting his head toward her his tongue flicked out tasting the top of her lip then he rubbed his tongue around his mouth as if savoring the taste of her." Hmmm sweet, he whispered." Raine inhaled sharply as he lowered his head to lick her bottom lip before taking into his mouth sucking on it.Lifting his head his eyes drifted lightly over her face before taking in her quickened breathing. S moment later her hands lifted to his hair entwining her fingers in it she pulled him to her her mouth closed over his hesitant at first then with more enthusiasm.

O god she tasted so good the urge to finish it here and now was so overwhelming.He didn't care they could be discovered any moment,he stopped thinking about the others in the car nothing was more important than her. He broke the kiss gliding his lips along her cheek, he licked her jawline before kissing his way along her neck he nuzzled her throat inhaling the scent he associated only with her then he gently closed his teeth on her neck an held her there.

Raine moaned her nails dug into his back. Suddenly he pulled back jerking his head up he cursed letting her slide down his body. She watched him pull his gun and turn pushing her behind him it took her a moment to understand what she was sensing. Then she felt him.

"I knew if I waited long enough I could have you both."

Michael smiled coldly," I was hoping you weren't a fool Stephen apparently you missed my point I should have killed you." The nite was giving way to dawn slowly the horizon was getting lighter.She could see the look in his eyes Stephen was completely insane,frightened she blamed herself for stalling for selfishly wanting a few moments with Michael alone.

" What alone? That's not quite your style is it?"

Stephen smiled fondly touching the wound on his head. "What else was I to do the few remaining were either dead or incapable of mobility. I confess your mercy with regards to me perplexes me." But I thank you for showing me the weak links still I do hate the loss of the equipment."

Raine gasped stepping into view. "What have you done? "

"Aaah little Raine..I understimated you again your escape was inspired even drugged and handicapped with a human you excelled." But I knew thru you I'd get Michael and then I'd have you both." The next generation will be so much stronger thru you two. Its time to go he gestured with his gun."

Michael quickly considered his options he was to far to disarm and to nuts to reason with. His hand casually reached back to pull Raine behind him and found only air. Determined to end it once and for all he drew Stephen's attention back to him.

"I'm afraid we'll have to refuse your invitation." Don't push me Stephen I could have killed you tonite it would have been so easy."But I didn't want the complications that it would cause.Just leave us alone."

Stephen nodded," I knew you would say that you truly are magnificent though." Alright Michael then I'll shoot Raine and take her to my secondary site and harvest her eggs before she dies." Michael eyed him coldly then I'll shoot you where you stand." Raine stepped closer clasping his arm Michael..

Stephen glanced behind them at the vehicle and sighed,the human element you've become as corrupted by them as Raine. He lowered his gun and turned to walk off. Michael wary watched him leave when suddenly a explosion rocked the ground and the Recycling facility burst in to flames spewing bits and pieces of debree in every direction.

Distracted Michael gazed at the fireball spiralling toward the sky. No! Raine cried sensing Stephen's intent she launched herself at Michael just as Stephen turned and fired. Michael swung his head around and fired he kept firing until his gun emptied. Expelling the cartridge he reached into his jacket.His eyes searching the area he popped another clip in the gun.

Satisfied he had been alone he looked down at Raine. "Don't do that again." Raine smiled weakly,"yeah that wasn't one of my more brighter ideas." Footsteps approached as Michael whirled around gun raised still holding Raine. Seeing Tom he lowered his weapon as he watched Tom check Stephen's body.

Sloan ran forward as Tom came back to them ." He dead but this area is going to be swarming with people quicker than we would like wanting answers we'd rather not share." Sloan reached them slightly winded followed by Ray. "Everyone alright?"

"Can we get out of here now Ray asked irritated ?? "

Michael's lips quirked looking down. " Well can we? " He frowned she was still and pale her eyes blinked."I feel kinda funny then they closed."Raine?" Sloan inhaled sharply," Michael were you shot? "He looked at her blankly,then he felt it the sticky wetness.

"God Raine's been hit. Let me see?"

" NO! don't touch her." He inhaled deeply trying to calm himself. " Thank you I can take care of her just let me get her ready to move." Lowering her quickly to the ground her gently lifted her shirt. Sloan inhaled sharply," she's loosing allot of blood kneeling beside him she lifted Raine's head into her lap."

He gritted his teeth,trying to remain calm,"you little fool you have got to stop doing these crazy stunts." Her eyes drifted open she glanced around.Sticking his gun in the small of his back he started pulling his jacket off. "Stephen? She whispered."

"For get him Michael said tersely he's dead." Her eyes drifted closed a moment." Michael your ok? "I'm ok but you not.A smile flickered across her lips. " Aaahh wondered how long it would be before you were back to lecturing." Taking his knife he started cutting the scrubs off her.Seeing her wound fully now he hissed folding the material he placed it over her injury gasping her eyes flew open and she tried to rise.

Sloan touched her shoulder gently pressing her back down.Michael snapped," be still." Raine laughed weakly," your bed side manner sucks." Raine struggled to stay conscious as he pulled his shirt over his head suddenly she gasped.Sloan glanced up startled "Raine? What?"

Blood splotched his chest from a multitude of cuts,but that wasn't what stunned her starting from just under his collar bone and coiling down the right side of his chest ending a little below his rib cage was a black dragon..The detail was incredible each scale's tip was luminous in colors depending on which angle you looked a different color was visible.

By all rights it should have looked odd but the effect was so subtle and tasteful it was beautiful.She hadn't ever seen one with that kind of complexity in a tattoo. Irritated and worried about her he asked sharply," haven't you ever seen a tattoo as he tore his shirt to secure the bandage? "

She laughed,"look Sloan she lifted her hand trying to reach for his chest *Dragon Tears* maybe there is hope she trailed off as her eyes fluttered closed once again." Sloan glanced from her face to his chest and frowned trying to make sense of what she said suddenly it clicked the splotches of blood on him looked like the Dragon was crying tears of blood.

Smoothing her hair back Sloan smiled sadly, I hope your version is happier than your mothers.Reaching for his jacket he gently raised her slipping it on then picking her up gently he glanced at the their faces and nodded.

"We're ready lets get the hell out of here.."
