Author Notes: This story is trilogy, Book # 1 is called Deceptions, Book # 2 is called Lies, and Book # 3 is called Retribution. Hope you enjoy, feel free to give me criticism. All criticism can be emailed to telleroftalesdt@webtv.net . The first book focuses on the escape of Lewis, and the capture of Tom as seen on the series before cancellation. It is also the establishment of the relationships. Also I would like to say that this story is AU it takes place after episode 7 where Sloan and Tom spent the night, it also assumes that this is when they first made love.
Deceptions
Prologue
Somewhere Outside of Pasadena, California-May 23, 1999
Inside of an old military building, a man of forty with glacial blue eyes and a head of silver white hair, sits contemplating how he had come to this place of death. If only I hadn’t been so sure of Tom’s loyalty. I shouldn’t have been so confident that my reprogramming would work. When I get out of here, I’ll make sure I don’t make the same mistake again. I should have known Tom wouldn’t kill Dr. Parker. I assumed that the survival of his species was more important to him than that female. That was my mistake; I should have known he had taken her as his mate. Damn Sloan Parker! And DAMN you, Tom Daniels for choosing her over your own species, for choosing her over me! I’m stuck in this cage being beaten, drugged and interrogated by that Bitch! Amy Johnson.
Outside the night was quiet. The stars sparkled like diamonds in the night sky. The darkness conceals the van as it rolls down the street. The black four-door caravan pulls off the road and parks in the tall swaying grass, but not before it bumps over an old log as they slow to a stop. Five figures stealthily jump from the van and scan the perimeter before approaching the old military facility. The facility looks like an old abandoned warehouse, four floors high with four windows on each side and each floor, the windows were old. Several are broken with plastic strung across to keep the cool night air out. Some of the plastic spun and whipped around the windows like a ghost trying to get out.
There were no lights, just cameras with a little blinking red light. New metal doors and four guards walking the perimeter covered the entrance. Staring at the facility, each man slowly nods their head; inside this facility was their leader…Lewis. Their objective was to find Lewis and destroy all trace of their existence. After silently checking the information once more, they move forward. A six-foot tall black man with piercing dark brown eyes, eyes so dark it was like looking into a black hole and long dreadlocks hanging down his back, creeps into the circle formed by the other four men.
He holds up one hand, the muscles work pulling his skin tight and smooth as he signals them to halt their surreptitious attack. Pointing to the other silent six-foot tall black man on his right, “Sam, you make sure the cameras and the alarm systems are off.” Nodding, Sam slithers off into the darkness like a snake in the grass. Zack turns to the quiet five-foot nine white man across from him, “Luke, you take out the guards at the entrance.” Slightly tilting his head to the right, Luke stands and stalks off, his movements smooth, silent and deadly. Like a panther hunting his prey.
“ Matt, you and Bill take out the
guards walking the perimeter,” Zack says quietly to the two Asian figures to
his left, nodding they silently disappear in the direction of the facility.
Zack slinks off into the night, sneaking up to the door on the west side of the
building, he settles into a crouched position and waits. We wouldn’t have to
be here if Lewis had just given up on his precious protégé. The Council wouldn’t
have betrayed us. Now look where we are, outlaws by Council orders and left to
rescue Lewis without reinforcements. Disguards!
Sam slips into the crevice just opposite the power box, peering out of his hiding place to make sure no one was coming. Sam walks towards the power box, opens it and stares at the wiring for several seconds before reaching behind him. His hand slips around to the base of his spine, his fingers curled around the handle of his Bowey hunting knife. Gracefully, in an arching sweep the knife slides free of its sheath. He slides the knife underneath the wiring for the security cameras and the alarms and then jerks his arm up and out, splitting the cables.
Luke creeps towards the unsuspecting Sapien; slipping his knife free he grabs Al’s long shaggy blonde hair. Luke jerks back Al's head, covering his mouth with one hand as he slices Al's throat from one ear to the other, before Al could scream. Then he turns and disappears back into the waving grass. Reaching his previous position he crouches, pulls his 9mm out and with quick and efficient moves, twists the silencer on. Raising his hand, he aims at the guard’s head, SWOOOP! Like an arrow hitting it’s mark. The guard crumples to the ground, blood oozing from the single gunshot wound between his eyes.
Matt and Bill sit crouched in the tall grass waiting for the signal. Chirp, Chirp. Sleeking forward they approach their targets, sneaking up behind them their hands sliding around their necks. A loud snapping sound is heard as each jerks the guards’ heads, breaking their necks in seconds. As the light on the camera over head blinks, then blinks out, Zack slips a black clothe out of his pocket. Flipping the sides open he pulls out a set of lock picking tools, he slides them into the lock and jangles them for several seconds, then the lock clicks as the door slides open.
Reconverging just inside the door, the five shadows stood staring at each other, Zack speaks in a low voice, “Luke, Sam, you two take out all evidence that we were ever here and get rid of the administrative areas of the facility. Bill and Matt, you take out any interior guards and set the explosives. I’ll find and liberate Lewis. Everyone regroup in fifteen minutes by the vehicles.” Once again the five figures diverge.
Slipping down the corridor to his left, Zack stalks down the long white hall, turning to his right at the end of the hall he takes the stairs two at a time. Reaching the last step, he pulls the door open a crack and peers out, seeing one guard seated in the middle of an empty room except for the circular desk covered with television screens, all showing the same image, a gray haired man of about forty laying across a small cot. Inside a room as big as a warehouse, one cell sits in the middle of that room. Making a small clattering sound inside the stairwell causes the guard to rise and investigate the noise. His arms shake as he pushes himself out of his old comfortable chair, his gray hair falling out daily and his beer belly rolling like Jell-O, as he makes his way across the room. Opening the door to the stairwell, he peeks his head just inside the door. Seeing nothing, he starts to pull his head out when suddenly Zack grabs his head and twists…breaking his neck.
Zack searches the body, finally finding what he’s looking for. Taking the keys, he gracefully leaps over the body and goes across the room to the door. Opening the door, he walks in and freezes… he can sense Lewis now. He stands there looking around; he’s standing inside of a sound proof room the size of a warehouse. Making his way to the cell, Zack gazes at Lewis; he could sense Lewis’s pain, his confusion, and his feeling of betrayal. “Lewis can you move? Are you seriously injured?” Lewis slowly sits up; he sits there for several seconds.
Then in a strong clear quiet voice Lewis replied, “I have some internal bleeding, three bruised ribs, a concussion and my right femur is broken in two places, but I can and will walk out of this place.” Zack reaches for the keys he had retrieved earlier from the guard’s body. After unlocking the door and helping Lewis rise, they slowly make their way towards the stairwell. As they reach the corridor again Zack stops, reaching out with his senses he checks the hallway. Sensing no one threatening, he steps out into the hall. Tilting his head slightly towards Lewis,
“Lewis, stay here for a sec… I just sensed someone entering the hallway.”
Zack creeps towards the unsuspecting female. She is dressed in dark purple genie styled pants, a short cropped tank top, a pair of purple and black striped Nike’s and a billowing white lab coat. She’s quietly walking towards Zack, her head down, avidly reading one of the files in her hands. She doesn’t notice the silent man making his way towards her. Stopping suddenly she looks up into the barrel of a 9mm. Her luminous dew green eyes widen with fear as the man slowly cocks his gun. Her hands tremble and the files fall unnoticed to the floor.
“ Please, please don’t hurt me,” she begs quietly, as she creeps back. Her feet silently backing up as the quiet black man with long dreadlocks down his back follows her, his gun trained on her heart. Lewis, tired of waiting, slowly dragged himself out of the door and into the hallway. He stands still as he reaches out with his senses; he locates Zack and the woman just a little ways up the hall. Walking as fast as possible, Lewis turns the corner and takes in the scene before him in one glance.
“ Bring her, I need medical attention.” Lewis urged Zack projecting a sense of confidence, obedience and loyalty. Nodding, Zack grabs her arm and pulls her with them down the corridor. They make their way outside and out into the fields surrounding the compound, dragging the protesting young doctor behind them. Once they were all a safe distance from the compound Lewis turns to Zack, “ Did you set the explosives?” Zack tilts his head towards Bill and Matt. Matt bounces up out of his crouch and walks towards Zack, once he reaches him, he hands him a small device.
Zack reaches out and takes the device, which resembles a small television remote. He nods to them, and they stalk towards the van. His eyes meet those of Luke and Sam, a silent question in them. They nod, then he tilts his head towards the van and they silently disappear into the darkness; the van door sliding up can be heard. Finally, Zack turns and nods his head, still holding the struggling doctor.
“ Blow it!” Lewis says vehemently, a trace of satisfaction in his voice. Zack pushes the timer button; as the minutes start to count down, the two men and the doctor make their way to the waiting van. The group drives towards the highway, silently counting in their heads
5...4…3...2...1… BOOOOOM! The explosion rocks the grounds, as the military facility is engulfed in flames. Lewis smiles a small half smirk as they drive away, thoughts of vengeance dancing in his head. The others watched the flames wondering what their next assignments would be? What the Council would do to them? What would Lewis do to the Council, to Tom and Sloan? How would they kill her?
Lewis looks at her out of the corner of his eye, “Zack take us to Haven. We have plans to make and the lovely doctor, Haley Anderson, has a patient to care for. You hear that Doc, you’re not going to die quite yet.” Lewis laughs maniacally as they drive onto the highway, heading north. Zack shifts slightly and peers at Lewis out of the corner of his eye. His mind drifting, as he drove the dark empty highway.
Lewis had been acting strangely ever since Tom betrayed him. He’s been erratic and unfocused. There’s something not quite right with him; after all, Dominants didn't act this way. Only Dominants who have known their children, raised them, act this way when separated for extended lengths of time. But Lewis has no children right? He’s never talked about them before. Maybe they died? I’m going to have to make sure Lewis gets some psychiatric help. We can’t have the only leader we have going off the deep end.
The others sat
quietly in the back each wondering what was wrong with Lewis, but refusing to
say anything for fear of what he would do to them as Zack took the left turn
off, highway 85 and drove down the old country road covered with leaves. Each
wondered what was to come. Life as they knew it was gone. The only things that
remained were deceptions, lies and retribution.
